Why Did You Have to Go?

You felt unloved
You felt ignored
You felt like nobody else would ever understand

You had a problem
You thought it was bigger than life
Your heart was filled with sadness
All you saw was strife

Nobody noticed the torment you felt
You were very good at hiding your pain
You thought ending it all would somehow make it better
You failed to notice a few things:

You were loved
You weren't ignored; just unwilling to take part
If you would've asked
You would've found that others did understand

You would've realized that your problem was temporary
And your solution…PERMANENT
If you had looked at things differently
You would've seen so much to be happy about

If you had opened up; someone could've helped
You thought you would only be hurting yourself
But you were wrong, once again
You hurt everyone who knew you
You even hurt perfect strangers that heard of your tragic demise
And what do you have to show for your selfish act?
Death and nothingness

You gave away your prized possessions
As if that would somehow replace
That gaping hole you left in our lives

You left everyone with so many unanswered questions
Guilt and blame were thrown around
Why did you hate yourself so?
What did you want us to know?
Why did you have to go?
